Leipzig head coach Tedesco: Shakhtar’s strength lies in wingers

Tomorrow the Italian team starts in the group stage of the Champions League

Leipzig head coach Domenico Tedesco commented on the upcoming match with miner in the first round of the Champions League group stage.

The coach of the German club focused on the fact that the departure of key players from the Pitmen’s camp did not affect the overall structure of work at Shakhtar.

“Shakhtar is the best team in Ukraine. This can be seen in the performance of the team in the League – they scored seven points in the first three rounds.

“Shakhtar remains a strong team even after the departure of a number of top players. They are very strong, able to play on the counter, their strength is in the wingers. Shakhtar is a club with a lot of experience playing in the Champions League.”

Tedesco also focused on two players of his team – newcomer Abdu Diallo and midfielder Dani Olmo, who will not play due to injury.

“Diallo is a super player with a lot of experience. He proved himself in both Mainz and Dortmund, which earned him a place at PSG. Now we are glad that he is with us and, of course, this is our option for the match against Shakhtar.”

“Olmo was in good shape, so losing him is a big blow for us. However, we have substantial squad depth to deal with this problem.”

The match of the first round of group F between Leipzig and Shakhtar will take place on September 6 at the Red Bull Arena in Leipzig. The beginning is at 22:00 Kyiv time. The main referee of the fight is Juan Pinheiro from Portugal.
