European club rating: Shakhtar’s success, Dynamo’s worst position

After defeating Leipzig, the Pitmen moved up one position

Shakhtar Donetsk, having won Leipzig (4:1) in the first round, improved its position in the Euro Club Index (ECI) ranking of European clubs. After the triumph in Germany, the Pitmen moved up one position, moving up from 42nd to 41st and overtaking Leicester.

The Euro Club Index (Euro Club Index, ECI) is a ranking of football teams in the top division of all European countries, which shows their relative playing strength at a given moment in time and their development over time. ECI allows you to calculate the probability of match results in the near future.

ECI values are calculated from all relevant match results over the past few seasons using scientific statistical methods. The influence of recent matches on the ECI value is higher than the influence of older ones.

At the moment, the rating is headed by Real Madrid. In second place is Manchester City, in third place is Liverpool.

If we talk about other participants in European competitions from Ukraine, then Dynamo ranks 76th in the ranking, SC Dnipro-1 – 248th. By the way, for the White-Blues, the current position is the worst in history. The highest place in the ECI ranking among the people of Kiev was in November 2009 – 16th. Shakhtar’s best position is ninth in February 2013.

It should be noted that this season the Pitmen became the winners in one more “nomination” of the Champions League. Shakhtar is the easternmost club in Europe taking part in the group stage of the tournament. And, by the way, the only one.
