During the European Cup week, three of our clubs earned 0.4 points for our country
On September 6-8, the first matches of the group stage of European competitions were played. Our country was not left without points in the UEFA coefficients table, however, of the three clubs that started from Ukraine at this stage, only Shakhtar earned points, defeating Leipzig away. Dynamo lost to Fenerbahce on the road, SC Dnipro-1 lost to AZ in a nominally home match.
As a result, the country’s piggy bank was replenished by 0.4 points (we divide the two points earned by Shakhtar for the victory by five clubs that started from Ukraine in Europe). It is noteworthy that SC Dnipro-1 did not earn a single hundredth of a point in the UEFA rating for Ukraine in three games played – three defeats. Dynamo – already three matches without points scored. Shakhtar is the leader in this indicator.
In total, after the first matches of the third qualifying round, Ukraine has 2.3 points in the current asset. Ukraine received 0.8 points for getting Shakhtar into the group stage of the Champions League (4 bonus points divided by the same five clubs), 0.4 points for the Pitmen’s victory over Leipzig (6 points earned by the team). Dynamo has 3.5 points in six games played (three wins and a draw). Zarya and Vorskla, who stopped their performances, brought 0.2 points each.
After the first round of the group stage, Ukraine retained its 16th position in the UEFA ranking. But our country is an outsider of the TOP-20 in terms of the number of points scored this season. Worse than Ukraine from the first 20 teams of the rating in this European season are only Serbia and Greece.
From other moments of the week, we note the return to the TOP-20 of Turkey. At the same time, the gap between Ukraine and the 20th position has significantly decreased. If before the starting round it was more than three points, now it is 2.415. Considering the difficulty with which points are given to our country this season, the trend is not very rosy.
