Ex-coach Bykov disappointed after the first match of the Champions League group stage
Former head coach RB Leipzig Domenico Tedesco was disappointed after the match of the first round Champions League with Shakhtar (1:4).
“It’s hard to find the right words. The game was just crazy. Much of the previous weeks was reflected in the match. Players cannot be accused of lack of mentality. They immediately picked up the pace and went ahead.”
“We started the second half brilliantly and equalized, but then Shakhtar Donetsk’s second goal came. We just lost the ball too easily and faced a lot of counterattacks. Therefore, we became less courageous and attacked less.”
“I am, of course, very disappointed after the game. You just have to accept the way the game has turned out. Tomorrow everything will look a little different. We need to look ahead and focus on Dortmund.”
The main candidate to replace Tedesco is the former coach of Borussia D. Marco Rose.
The Bulls will play their next match in the Bundesliga against Borussia Dortmund on 10 September. In the second round of the Champions League, RB Leipzig will play away with Real Madrid on September 14.
