Yuri Belous: ‘I wouldn’t say Slutsky has a hard core to manage the team’

Former CEO of the football club “Moscow” Youri Belou c believes that the coach Leonid Slutsky who now leads Rubin Kazan, does not have the hard core to manage a football team.

Slutsky led Moskva from 2005 to 2007. From 2004 to 2005, the specialist worked in the team’s double.

– I took Leonid Viktorovich when he came from Uralans. I was advised by Grigory Esaulenko: “Pay attention, he seems like an interesting guy.”

We talked for a long time and I liked his approach. Then there was head coach Petrakov, he took everything with hostility. I wanted a coach who anticipates and thinks about the future.

I understood one thing, that Leonid Viktorovich will not succeed if he is not sent Sergei Shustikov to headquarters. I said to him: “Come on, you will be a game coach and you will help Slutsky.” He needed a man who would beat the players with his charisma.

– So he didn’t have a hard core to manage the team?

“Yeah, I wouldn’t say that even today he has a hard core to manage the team,” Belous said on MATCH PREMIER TV channel’s ‘Football Man’ show.
