Chelsea plan to appoint new director of football before winter

Negotiations are underway with several candidates

Chelsea plans to appoint a new director of football before the start of the winter transfer window. The club is already negotiating with several candidates.

Blues owner Todd Boely expects the new manager to work alongside new team coach Graham Potter in shaping the club’s new strategy.

In May, a consortium led by Boeli paid more than $5 billion for the club, including guarantees of future investment in the club. Oligarch Roman Abramovich was forced to sell the club due to sanctions imposed on the oligarch because of his ties to Russian President Vladimir Putin amid the Russian army’s invasion of Ukraine.

In the summer, Chelsea ceased cooperation with a number of key administrative persons – club director Marina Granovskaya, Blues chairman Bruce Buck and technical adviser Petr Cech.

The Londoners recently sacked coach Thomas Tuchel. He was replaced by Graham Potter, who signed a five-year contract.

Chelsea are sixth in the standings, and in the opening round of the Champions League group stage, the Blues sensationally lost to Dinamo Zagreb.
