Putin’s oligarchy seems to have changed his mind about giving money from selling the club to war victims, and wants to keep it for himself.
Roman Abramovich put the future of Chelsea in question. Putin’s oligarch, who had previously promised to give all the money from the sale of the club to war victims in Ukraine, apparently changed his mind and decided to keep the funds for himself.
According to Sky Sports, the UK government became aware of the Russian’s attempts to collect 1.5 billion pounds, which he lent to the club. At the same time, it is obvious that the country’s leadership will not allow the team to be sold unless they are absolutely sure that Roman Abramovich will earn nothing.
Recall that after the sanctions against Putin’s oligarch, the sale of the football team was overseen by Raine Group, an investment bank appointed by Abramovich. This structure will have the final say on who gets the asset.
However, the moneybag decided to cheat, and now he is demanding from the financial structure such a deal, for which he will get 1.5 billion pounds. That’s how much, according to the oligarch’s assurances, he invested in Chelsea through Fordstam Limited.
At the same time, the football club’s state license to operate will expire on May 31, and if the team does not get a new owner by that time, it could cease to exist. We also noticed that the English Premier League will meet on June 8 to determine the participants for the new season. Whether there will be a place for Chelsea here is not yet known.
