The LPR highly appreciates the chances of recovering the debts of foreign companies, the amount exceeds 53 million rubles

The Russian Premier League (RPL) has confirmed to that it has filed claims regarding economic disputes against foreign companies with the Moscow Arbitration Court. The organization noted that it highly values the chances of debt collection.

Earlier in September, it became known that claims had been submitted to WinPower (China), Radio e Televisao Bandeirantes (Brazil) and Sportradar (Switzerland) for a total claim amount of more than 40 million rubles. In July, RPL also filed a lawsuit against the Latin American branch of GOL TV demanding that the company pay 13.2 million rubles.

– RPL really faced the problem of non-compliance by our counterparties, who did not pay the league for international broadcast licenses. We provided services, but we did not receive money for them, so we are trying to resolve this situation within the legal framework. The RPL clubs have been informed of the existence of this debt and that the league is trying to recover it through the courts.

We are talking about four companies-entrepreneurs, their debt to the league is a total of 53.3 million rubles. The hearing on the first lawsuit against Gol TV Latinamerica (the territory of Latin America and the Caribbean) in the amount of 13.2 million rubles is scheduled for October 24;

WinPower (licensed in mainland China and Macao) owes RPL 2.4 million rubles, Radio e Televisao Bandeirantes (Brazil) – 3.5 million rubles, the Swiss company Sportradar – 34.2 million rubles.

We assess our chances of collecting debts from counterparties as high,” RPL’s press service said.

Sportradar and Premier League management have agreed a multi-year partnership to deliver sports data and statistics in 2015. The company is committed to providing RPL with “innovative solutions which will be available across a variety of digital platforms”. The amount of claims against the Swiss company amounts to more than 34.2 million euros.

In the summer of 2020, the RPL and the Brazilian television channel Band TV, part of the Bandeirantes media conglomerate, signed a contract to broadcast the league matches until the end of the 2021/22 season.
