RPL intends to recover more than 40 million rubles from foreign companies, including broadcasters

The association of football clubs “Russian Premier League” last week filed complaints about economic disputes with the Moscow Arbitration Court against three foreign companies.

Claims were submitted to WinPower (China), Radio e Televisao Bandeirantes (Brazil) and Sportradar (Switzerland) for a total claim amount of more than 40 million rubles.

Sportradar and Premier League management have agreed a multi-year partnership to deliver sports data and statistics in 2015. The company is committed to providing RPL with “innovative solutions which will be available across a variety of digital platforms”. The amount of claims against the Swiss company amounts to more than 34.2 million euros.

In the summer of 2020, the RPL and the Brazilian television channel Band TV, part of the Bandeirantes media conglomerate, signed a contract to broadcast the league matches until the end of the 2021/22 season.

In July, it became known that RPL had also filed a lawsuit against the Latin American branch of GOL TV demanding that the company pay 13.2 million rubles.
