WBA/WBO/IBF/IBO Heavyweight Champion Oleksandr Usyk met with fans and football players of Zhytomyr Polissya.
After the match of the 3rd round of the championship of the First League Polesie – Mariupol (4:2), Usyk communicated with the fans together with the club’s players for an hour.
“I was glad to see the guys and sincerely rooted for the team, because it really became close to me. It’s nice to see that the Zhytomyr people support Polesie in the bomb shelter pub so much, because because of the war they can’t do it in the stands,” Usyk said.
Usyk also signed a branded T-shirt for the Zhytomyr 95th Airborne Assault Brigade. Together with cars, generators and radio stations, the club will soon transfer it to the military to combat positions.
After 3 starting rounds, Polesie scored 9 points and is in the lead in Group A of the First League of the Ukrainian Championship.
Last month, Usyk defeated British Anthony Joshua in a twelve-round rematch by a split decision: 115-113, 116-112 and 113-115. Immediately after the victory, Usyk challenged Tyson Fury to the fight.
Recall, Usyk said that the duel with Fury in December is impossible. The Ukrainian needs to recover from injuries and rest after the fight with Joshua.
