First match against Slovakia – September 23
Head coach of the youth team of Ukraine Ruslan Rotan commented on the situation with the goalkeepers ahead of the play-off matches for Euro 2023 U-21 qualifiers against Slovakia.
“There are two losses – and they are very significant. This applies to goalkeeper Ruslan Neshcheret and forward Vladislav Supryaga. These are our main performers who are very useful both on and off the field. We carefully analyze the influence of each team member on the climate in the team, so we are very sorry when we lose important performers in this sense.”
“I have said more than once and I will say it again that I am proud to work with such wonderful and educated guys, for which I am grateful, first of all, to their parents and coaches from the clubs. We have been building this team for a long time, and we have it 100%.
“Yes, we are really worried that we will start our training without two main goalkeepers – Neshcheret and Trubin. Of course, we are counting on Kirill Fesyun, who has been in our team for a long time, but he has no game practice in Kolos. They called two newcomers, already experienced Dmitry Matsapura and young Yakov Kinareykin, but for them this will be the first visit to the national team.
“Nevertheless, I see no reason to panic, and our goalkeeping coach, Vitaly Reva, has the same mood. In addition, we do not rule out that Trubin will still join our team – there is such a preliminary agreement with the head coach of the national team. In other words, the situation is under control.”
Ukraine qualified for the play-offs for Euro 2023, finishing second in qualifying group H. Team Rotan lost first place to France, but was 11 points ahead of Serbia.
Ukraine will play the first match against Slovakia in Zilina at the Pod Dubno stadium on September 23. The meeting starts at 19:00 Kyiv time.
The second leg, which is considered “home” for the Rotan team, will take place in the Polish city of Bielsko-Biala at the Municipal Stadium on September 27. The match starts at 18:30 Kyiv time.
