Villarreal DT praise Manuel Pellegrini: “He’s a reference and we learn from him, he’s a performance coach at all levels”

Unai Emery has praised the Chilean coach, who led the Yellow Submarine between 2004 and 2008, even reaching the Champions League semi-finals in 2006.

Manuel Pellegrini is one of the most outstanding Chilean coaches in football history. The national DT records stages for important clubs such as Real Madrid and Manchester City, with which he won titles and played important tournaments such as the Champions League, a tournament in which, together with Villarreal in 2006, he reached the semi-finals. With the Yellow Submarine, in addition, the strategist was vice-champion of the Spanish championship, a year earlier.

It is for these achievements that the Engineer is often praised. And this time it was Unai Emery, the current coach of Villarreal, who showered the national coach with praise. The Spaniard, who has already met the Chilean coach in the Premier League and La Liga, won the Europa League with the team he currently manages.

“I have seen his teams and I know him. He’s a benchmark, you learn from him,” Emery started when talking about Pellegrini’s work in European football. The Hispanic didn’t stop there, as he made a point of praising the former footballer. “He is a performance technician at all levels” he added, along the same lines.

The accolades don’t stop there as the ex-Sevilla manager made a point of evoking the Chilean with good words. “The choice of players, management and its results. I have found things with him and at Betis he is doing a magnificent job,” said the strategist.

From 4:00 p.m. this Sunday, the two coaches will meet at the Benito Villamarín. The Engineer will once again face the club with which he signed one of the best seasons of his career, while Emery will try at all costs to win. The Spaniard won the last edition of the Europa League, having beaten Manchester United in the final.

The Engineer’s rival strategist continued to praise the Verdiblanco team. “At Betis he finds a great level which is a sequence of what started at Villarreal” said Unai, who will be looking to hold on to victory in this Sunday session.

The duel between the Sevillians and Villarreal will be the one that will mark the top of the table of the Spanish championship. Currently, Betis are sixth, with nine units. The Yellow Submarine, meanwhile, is one point up and currently sits in third place, stalking Real Madrid, who lead with 15.
