According to the player, Shakhtar deserved a draw
Midfielder of Shakhtar Ivan Petryak commented on the outcome of the meeting with Celtic (1:1) in the second round of the Champions League group stage. The Ukrainian believes that the match was quite even, so it is difficult to give someone an advantage.
“The first match Celtic lost to Real Madrid (0-3), so they had to put pressure on us from the first minute. They started very actively, scored a quick goal. We started hard, that’s [все] seen. But then we equalized the score, the game leveled off. I think we deserve a draw today. At least,” Petryak said.
“Celtic plays very compactly, the players work one-on-one to the end. It is very difficult to play defensively with such people. But we had 3-4 chances when we could score. They could have missed it too. Pretty smooth game. I think 1:1 is the result showing the game on the field.
“Honestly, we work from match to match. For there are also very difficult games in the championship. We do not think about the future, we live preparing for every match, no matter who will be – Real or Metalist. We prepare for each match separately. We always want first places.”
Petryak has played six games in all competitions for Shakhtar this season, however, he hasn’t scored any goals.
After two matches, Igor Jovićević’s team scored four points in the quartet F. In the next round, the Pitmen’s rival will be Real Madrid.
