The midfielder of the Donetsk club considers the result of the Champions League match to be logical.

Shakhtar struggled against Celtic in the Champions League. The Scottish team is very compact, and it is always difficult to play against such an opponent. Donetsk club midfielder Ivan Petryak said this after the match in the round. However, the player considers a 1:1 draw between the teams to be natural.

“Celtic lost to Real Madrid 3-0 in the first match, so they had to put pressure on us from the first minute. So they started very active, scored a quick goal. We started well, we saw it. But then we equalized the score, the game leveled off. We deserve a draw today, at least.

Celtic play very compactly, the players work one by one until the end. It’s very difficult for those on defense. But we had 3-4 chances when we scored. Maybe they missed it too. Pretty smooth game. I think 1:1 is the result that shows the game on the field.

Tribune support? Of course they did. I want to say that I am very grateful to the fans who came to support us. Of course, we want to play in Ukraine, we miss our fans. But this is the situation in the country, everyone knows. Today there are many people from Ukraine. We play for them, for our armed forces, for our country. We feel it. I hope they also feel that we gave our best.

Regarding qualifying from the group, to be honest, we are working on each match. So there is also a very difficult game in the championship. We don’t think about the future, we live preparing for every match, no matter who it will be – Real or Metalist. We prepare for each match separately. We always want first place.

The coach is happy, I saw how the boys gave themselves on the field today. He understands the gravity of this fight, the importance. All teams are very strong. Therefore, one point is not so bad. Of course, we want to win, but we will analyze our mistakes,” said Petryak in an interview on the UEFA website.

Recall that Shakhtar played out a 1-1 draw against Celtic in the second round of the Champions League group stage. In the next round of the Champions League, the Pitmen will face Real Madrid. The match will take place on 5th October.

Earlier, Shakhtar’s head coach Igor Jovicevich commented on the results of the game against the Scottish champions.
