The head coach of Ukraine’s youth team spoke about the problems facing his team.
The Ukrainian youth national football team has a serious problem before the decisive playoff matches for the right to qualify for Euro 2023 against Slovakia. As the head coach of the team, Ruslan Rotan, said, the U-21 team lost its main goalkeepers, and besides, not everyone is well in attack.
“Unfortunately, there are two significant losses. It concerns goalkeeper Ruslan Neshcheret and striker Vladislav Supryaga. These are our main performers, who are very useful on and off the field. Really worried we that we will start our training without two main goalkeepers. – Neshcheret and Trubin, who was called by Alexander Petrakov to the national team. Of course, we rely on Kirill Fesyun, he has been with our team for a long time, but he has no practice playing in Kolos. We called up two newcomers : experienced Dmitry Matsapura and young Yakov Kinareykin, but for them this is the first visit to the national team. However, I see no reason to panic, and our goalkeeping coach, Vitaly Reva, has the same mood.
The main thing is different – we will go by reading positive news from the front. I never tire of thanking the Armed Forces of Ukraine and making them proud. All our youth team are busy with such thoughts, I know this for sure.
We studied the Slovakian national team closely, watching more than 10 games with their participation. There is a lot of information, so it is important to highlight the most important. As long as we do it. However, the number one task is to remember precisely our principles of the game as soon as possible. We did not hide that, of course, because of some styles and tactical features of the opponent’s game, we build our own football and do not adapt to anyone.
I never put pressure on the players with a result – each of them can confirm this. I always stress that I will answer for every loss, and you must answer with me in every game.
No more pressure this time. Men are so close to their goal that they don’t need to be motivated at all. But I will remind them that they don’t just dream of going to the Euros, but to show meaningful football there. Let’s not forget about the opportunity to go to the Olympic Games.
Hopefully from 19, our line-up will be complete. You know, when we started our journey, we only had two players who had played abroad. Now it’s seven. So far, seven,” the Ukrainian Football Association quoted Rotan as saying.
Recall that the matches for access to Euro 2023 between the national team of Ukraine U-21 and peers from Slovakia will be held on September 23 and 27.
