La Roja Sub 20 adds another defeat against Morocco in the friendly tournament of Costa Cálida

The cast led by Patricio Ormazábal, despite one more player in the 61st minute, failed to turn the tide against the African team.

La Roja Sub 20 added another defeat in the friendly tournament of Costa Cálida . The national team ended up losing 1-0 to the African team which was down to 10 players after Reda Ergouai was sent off in the 61st minute.

“From the first minute, the intensity has to be a thousand and then not having to come back from behind,” coach Patricio Ormazábal said heading into Tuesday’s game. And with that conviction, the national team seemed to jump onto the pitch.

The opening minutes were quite contested in the middle of the pitch with Sebastián Pineau as one of the players who complicated the Africans’ exit on more than one occasion. The national zone reference fought every ball, being the first to press in an attempt to recover the ball.

One of the first fears of the Moroccan defense came in the 7th minute. From the right sector Jordhy Thompson took a cross that walked in front of the small box without finding players who managed to push him towards the goal .

Then, in the 15th minute, Sebastián Pino won a header from a corner, but his shot went over the horizontal.

Just at 24′ came one of Morocco’s best games in the first leg. After a quick outing that found the defense disoriented, Arhoun appeared in the box but his shot didn’t find the goal after good pressure from the home defence.

And despite Chile showing more options to get ahead, it was the Africans who managed to get ahead on the scoreboard in the 41st minute. After a corner, defender Reda Ergouai won the post from Daniel Gutiérrez and with a header he made 1-0 with which the first half of the match was closed .

In the second half, La Roja came out looking for a draw with everything, but their game relied more on intensity than clarity to find it. At times, everyone’s team abused balls which in most cases ended up favoring defenders who were well placed behind.

Either way, chances have come. At 60′, Maicol León fired a good shot which forced a better reaction from the opposing goalkeeper who ended up sending the ball to the corner . Playing was the key, because while waiting for the execution of the corner, Ergouai was sent off for attacking a rival .

Two minutes later, León again had the chance to make it 1-1, but this time the Moroccan defense prevented national celebrations.

With a numerical superiority on the ground, Chile intensified the pressure on Morocco’s exit and increased the search for space on the wings, but all the efforts were not rewarded .

Thus, Chile ends with two falls and a victory in the friendly tournament of Costa Cálida. On his debut in the competition, he was beaten by a resounding 3-0 against the England team. They then showed marked improvement against Australia, whom they beat 3-1 thanks to domestic goals from Paolo Guajardo and a brace from Jeison Fuentealba.
