Joaquín Niemann continues without bouncing in the LIV Golf Series Bangkok

The national golfer ended the second day of competition with a -1 card which takes him away from the first places in the ranking.

Joaquín Niemann continues his third experience at Liv Golf by playing the Bangkok Invitational and, unlike his two previous participations, he did not know how to stand out among the competitors.

His first day of competition was marked by a statistical fact. Since his arrival in the Saudi competition, the Chilean signed for the first time a course which did not end under par, tied with the lot.

Also, this Saturday the panorama improved at least on this aspect. Joaco ended the day with a -1 card which in any case leaves him far from the advanced positions .

After adding pairs in the first eight holes, on the ninth he ended up scoring a bogey which he ended up recovering immediately at the next flag. Thus a new birds on the 17th it allowed him to finish with the shot under par which left him in position T43 .

Thus, Niemann positioned himself 8 strokes from the top ten and 15 from the current leader, the Spaniard Eugenio López-Chacarra, who finished the day with a card of -9 and accumulates 16 strokes under par, holding an advantage of five strokes with his closest pursuers.

At the team level, Niemann’s Torque GC fell three places in the standings, dropping from 8th to 11th out of 12 teams with -13 . Alongside the Chilean are Jediah Morgan, Hideto Tanihara and Scott Vincent.

López-Chacarra, focused on improving

After the competition, the leader of the classification, Eugenio López-Chacarra, said that his plan to face this competition was to “try to have fun and then work to avoid bogeys. Play smart on the course, and that’s what I started doing this week,” he told official LIV Golf channels.

Winning is always fun, but I’m not focused on winning, just getting better “, he added.

He also commented on how it was to share the team with Sergio García. “I’m still dreaming. It feels like yesterday when I went to Madrid to see the Spanish Open and watch him play golf and saw him as an idol. He has (been) a Spanish idol for a long time. He’s been on tour for 21 years, so I’m just trying to learn as much as I can from him. Him, and I think I’m in a good place, I love him and I love our whole team. We are well placed.”

López-Chacarra also received praise from Briton Richard Bland. “He played very well today. He barely missed a shot. Very impressive. Considering he’s only 22, he just turned pro, he’s been playing like he’s been a pro for 20 years ”.
