In the fight for the title: Mito Pereira and Joaquín Niemann are in the top ten for AT&T Byron Nelson

The Chileans signed a great second run and managed to settle in the top positions of the weekend. Talagan’s man has -12 on his card, while Pirque’s man is eleven under par.

TPC Craig Ranch is hallowed ground for Chilean golfers. After two rounds of the AT&T Byron Nelson, Mito Pereira and Joaquín Niemann occupy the first places of the event and with great chances of reaching Sunday with options to fight for the title. The Pirque native is -11, while the Talagan man has scored 12 under overall.

And it is that today’s round catapulted the national golfers to the top of the competition. The first to step on the lawn of the club located in McKinney, Texas, was Joaquín Niemann. The winner of two PGA tournaments was impatient, because yesterday he had lost a few chances to reach the top five. This is why he attacked the first holes (he started at 10) with force, obtaining from the start three consecutive birdies . Later, he would reduce again in 14 and 18, attacking the highest positions in the tournament.

This wild rhythm had a moment of calm, because after these five discounts in the first nine flags, the Chilean lived a period where the emotions did not come. It remained par with the course until the sixth hole , where he clenched his fist again. The last two throw-ins of the day were in that and in the nines, turning -7, which added to the five under par he had reached on Thursday, leaving him in the tournament’s best ten.

But Joaco was not the only Chilean with things to say. Mito Pereira came this round escorting the leader, with -8 on his card. Starting in the latter groups of the day, Pirque continued to drop shots in his fight to earn his first PGA win. This Saturday, he will play the day with -11 at the start of the first hole.

The breakdown of Mito gives three birdies and zero bogeys, in a calm day without faults. A pleasant surprise was his response to a bad tee shot on 18 in which his ball was submerged in water. Thus, the two Chileans are among the top ten in the tournament for the weekend.

AT&T Byron Nelson’s tip is currently shared by Ryan Palmer, David Skinns and Colombian Sebastián Muñoz, who they have an overall of -15 .
