Prince of Wales Country Club Open: Benjamin Alvarado takes the lead after an eight-under first round

The Polo Club golfer dazzled on the opening day of the event which serves as a qualifying stage for the Astara Chile Classic.

The opening day of the Prince of Wales Country Club was experienced with great emotion in La Reina. Over 100 players have started a journey that works like fqualification date for the Astara Chile Classic a tournament that will be part of the Korn Ferry Tour calendar in 2023. In the first round, Benjamín Alvarado was the best.

The Polo Club golfer showed his full potential and had an eight under par day, scoring 64 strokes on his card. Only suffered a bogey on the day (hole 13) and closed the round with three consecutive birdies being the absolute leader of the event.

But the distance with his pursuers is practically nil. Despite the fact that Alvarado had a spectacular run, the rest of the competitors did not want to be left behind and also managed to easily overcome the demands of the terrain. Second place is shared by Agustín Errázuriz and Nicolás Geyger, with -7 while Benjamín Saiz-Wenz sits fourth with six under par.

On the other hand, the international player with the best result was the Colombian Gabriel Cadena, who signed 68 hits (-4) on his card.

They all compete for a bag that distributes 15 million pesos in prizes and for the chance to score points for the ranking of the Astara Chile Classic, the most important golf tournament to be held in the country next year. There will be international players from the PGA development school and a $1 million scholarship. The actions continue this Saturday.
