Eight under par overall: Mito Pereira still in contention at Dunlop Phoenix Tournament

After two days, the national golfer is in third place in the standings, just one shot behind the leaders.

Mito Pereira is one of the main faces of the Dunlop Phoenix tournament. The Chilean arrived with a candidate plate and fully met expectations, being the protagonist after two rounds played. He remains in third position with a total of eight under par and only one stroke behind the leaders.

During his stint in Miyazaki, the Pirque native had 134 hits, ending Friday with an aggregate score of -2. That, added to the 6 cents he hit on Thursday, leaves him just one stroke less South Korean Tom Kim and Japanese Kazuki Higa who has run the tournament, which distributes $1.5 million in prizes.

Specifically, this Friday he scored three birdies and suffered a bogey, in a day marked by the complicated weather conditions that existed in the Japanese city. In reality, the rain was the big protagonist of the round.

The Dunlop Phoenix Tournament is one of the most prestigious tournaments on the Japan Golf Tour, so it’s no coincidence that great PGA players have crossed the ocean to play the event. With Mito they are Canadian Corey Conners (-6) and American Aaron Wise (-2).

The invitation of the organization, added to the fact that the test distributes points for the World Ranking, made that the Chilean did not hesitate to participate in the test and therefore play for the second time this year in a tournament in Japan . The first was a month and a half ago, when it was part of the ZOZO Championship, the only PGA date in Asia.
