The federation has announced the five representatives for the important tournament to be held this year in Puerto Rico and which has been won in recent years by Joaquín Niemann, Toto Gana and Matías Domínguez.
Chile has had an exceptional participation in the seven editions of Latin American Amateur Golf (LAAC). Without going any further, the national representatives won three times, Matías Domínguez being the winner of the initial 2015 version, while Tomás “Toto” Gana won the 2017 version and Joaquín Niemann won the 2018 version in Santiago.
This year, the excitement will move to Puerto Rico, where the tournament hosted by The Masters Tournament, The R&A and the USGA it will be played January 12-15 at the Grand Reserve Golf Club in Río Grande, Puerto Rico. And, of course, the one considered the Major of the amateur world will have a significant endowment.
It’s all about the players Lukas Roessler, Juan Ignacio Basagoitía, Clemente Silva, Martín Cancino and Martín Leon who will seek to emulate the achievements of their predecessors.

The LAAC offers a series of incentives for the winner and their companion. So, for example, the champion will receive an invitation to the Masters Tournament 2023 at Augusta National Golf Club and 151st. Opened at Royal Liverpool.
On the other hand, the winner will obtain full exemptions to participate in the Amateur Championship, the United States Amateur Championship and any other USGA Amateur Championship for which he is eligible. For this edition, the place chosen was the Grand Reserve Golf Club, which will host the tournament for the first time. The course was designed by Tom Kite and is located on the northeast coast of the island. The property overlooks the El Yunque National Forest and several lagoons. The course has hosted the Puerto Rico Open on the PGA Tour since 2008 and this year hosted the U.S. Women’s Amateur Four-Ball Championship.
The current winner of the contest is Aaron Jarvis of the Cayman Islands, who also became the first champion of this event to qualify for the Open Championship.
