Tesla Motors, the American electric car company, officially arrives in Chile and becomes the first country in South America to bear the signature of Elon Musk.

During the inauguration of the first store in our country, which will be located in the Parque Arauco shopping center in Santiago and which aroused great emotion among the hundreds of people present in the shopping center, the brand presented the strategy that it will have for our market with the arrival of two models: the Model 3 sedan and the Model Y SUV as spearheads and with extremely competitive prices. “Our competitors are combustion cars, we want Chile to have the opportunity to have a greater supply of electric cars at competitive prices. Here we do not compete with other brands that offer electromobility among their products, because with them we only add sales volume. The Model Y is the best-selling car of the South African businessman’s company and, furthermore, the best-selling car in the world in 2023, which is a significant milestone as it is the first time in history that an electric car is the world’s favorite. .

The SUV, which recorded 1.23 million registrations last year, shares a platform with the Model 3 and measures 4,751 mm long, 1,920 mm wide and 1,624 mm high and has a wheelbase of 2,891 mm. As for its trunk, it has a capacity of 854 liters.

It will be available in three versions: Standard, Long Range and Performande.

The first is the entry level and its value is $42,900,000. It has rear-wheel drive with a single 220 kW/300 HP motor and its range is around 455 km approved and it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds. The second variant ($47,900,000) has all-wheel drive, a power of 378 kW (514 Hp), with an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.0 seconds and its autonomy would reach 533 km ; while the top-of-the-range version ($52,900,000) features the same dual electric motor system, four-wheel drive, but with a power that reaches 393 kW (534 HP), although its autonomy drops to 514 km. Its acceleration is incredible: 3.7 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h. Additionally, it comes with a Track driving mode, which allows drivers to customize the drive, giving even more control over how the vehicle moves. This option provides the ability to fine-tune the car’s performance, including engine balance, stability control assist, and regenerative braking.

In terms of safety and technology, the Model Y comes with everything the Californian firm offers, from Tesla Autopilot – classified as a Level 2 advanced driver assistance system – to various tech gadgets (including the ability to draw on the screen until the horn setting). with various sounds).

Tesla’s entry model in Chile is the Model 3, a model that debuted in 2017, but arrived with the last update received and was presented in September last year. It measures 4,720 mm long, 1,933 mm wide and 1,441 mm high, with a wheelbase of 2,875 mm and a boot of 682 liters.

It will be available in the local market in two versions: Standard and Long Range.

The first is a simple rear-wheel drive with a single 208 kW (283 HP) motor with an acceleration of 6.1 seconds and a range of 513 km according to the WLTP cycle. Meanwhile, the second variant features all-wheel drive with two propellers that reach a power of 366 kW (500 Hp), giving it a range of 629 km. 0 to 100 km/h takes just 4.4 seconds.

As a base, it comes with a 15.4″ central touchscreen, an 8″ rear screen, 18″ alloy wheels and a black interior.

Tesla models arrive in Chile with type 2 plug approval, the same one that is approved for cars in Europe.
