Volkswagen presents the most powerful Golf GTI Clubsport in history

Before the 24 Hours of Nürburgring, the German brand unveiled the renewal of a sports sedan that reaches 300 horsepower.

Volkswagen took advantage of the 24 Hours of Nürburgring to present a new generation of its powerful Golf GTI Clubsport. On the legendary Eifel circuit, in front of the crowds attending one of the most important tests in Germany, the most powerful front-wheel drive GTI sports car in history appeared.

The Clubsport also differentiates itself from the standard GTI with a new, completely redesigned front end, which now appears more powerful and distinctive. The standard LED Plus headlights have been renewed and, for the first time, they also feature the illuminated VW logo on the front.

Along the side is a new 19-inch Queenstown wheel whose design takes inspiration from the iconic Detroit-style wheels introduced for the fifth-generation Golf GTI. They highlight the classic design of five oval semicircles. Now, for additional performance, VW will also offer a 19-inch Warmenau forged wheel that weighs just 8 kg.

At the rear, a large roof spoiler stands out which guarantees maximum aerodynamic load, to which is added a redesign of the LED taillights and the presence of an Akrapovič exhaust system with titanium tailpipes.

Inside, the new leather multifunction sports steering wheel and a new, more intuitive infotainment system stand out, allowing the driver to concentrate more on the road. Additionally, the top-end GTI also includes the IDA voice assistant with ChatGPT integration.

More power with the Golf GTI Clubsport

The new Volkswagen Golf GTI Clubsport takes the turbocharged GTI engine, but increases it to an output of 300 hp with 400 Nm of torque, which is transmitted to the front wheels via an electronically controlled front differential. DCC Adaptive Chassis Control is available as an option.

Another highlight is the exclusive Special driving profile, which is in addition to the Eco, Comfort, Sport and Individual modes.

This adapts the most relevant systems for driving dynamics to the special characteristics of the Nürburgring circuit, thus compensating for the typical undulations of the Nordschleife. Maximum performance is achieved through a specific configuration of DCC Adaptive Chassis Control and modified lateral dynamics.

In terms of performance, the Golf GTI Clubsport accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds, with a maximum speed electronically limited to 250 km/h. However, this limit can be exceeded with the Race pack, which increases the top speed to 267 km/h.

Remember that the latest Golf GTI Clubsport was launched in 2021 to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the arrival of the first GTI in 1976. In addition, this latest version celebrates half a century of the Golf this year.
