Why Elon Musk Wants to Remove X and SpaceX Offices from California

Tesla CEO says he wants to move the headquarters of the social network and rocket maker to the state of Texas.

Elon Musk announced Tuesday this week that it plans to relocate the headquarters of X (formerly Twitter) and SpaceX currently located in Hawthorne, California .

According to the mogul, the social network’s new headquarters will be in Austin, Texas, while the rocket maker’s will be relocated to Boca Chica, Texas. The move comes just days after the Tesla CEO publicly endorsed Donald Trump in the US presidential race.

Via your X account Musk has assured that his determination to move his companies’ offices is due to a California law signed on Monday this week by Governor Gavin Newsom.

Specifically, the legislation prohibits school districts from requiring teachers to notify parents if their children change the gender with which they identify.

The tycoon described the rule as “The drop that filled the glass” and said he had pointed out to Governor Newson a year ago that such laws “would force families and businesses to leave California to protect their children.”

“I’m tired of dodging violent drug gangs just to get in and out of the building,” he added of the corporate offices he now owns in California.

Musk has shown for years that he has a problematic relationship with the state, mainly because he sees it as an area with a lot of regulations for businesses.

In December 2020, he said he had officially moved to Texas, and a few months later he moved the headquarters of his car company, Tesla, from Palo Alto to Austin.
