“Phoebe” shared what was the most uncomfortable part of filming Friends

Lisa Kudrow the actress who brought to life the iconic Phoebe Buffay in Friends decided to open up about some unknown details of his time on the American sitcom.

In an interview he gave to the podcast Conan O’Brien Needs a FriendThe 60-year-old actress recounted what she disliked the most during the recording of the series broadcast between 1994 and 2004.

According to Kudrow’s story, during the filming years Friends There was one detail that always bothered him: the audience’s overreaction to certain jokes, which ended up delaying the recordings of the show and the actors’ performance.

It should be remembered that each episode of the series was recorded with a live audience.

“They laughed too long. It wasn’t that funny.” the actress explained in the podcast. According to her, the prolonged laughter of the participants “was not an honest response” and caused her a lot of irritation.

“You’re ruining the flow of the rest of the show. There are other lines. Sometimes if they were laughing too long, I’d look at them and say, ‘Come on.'” I was very angry, she added.

Kudrow also argued that a television show is not designed “for the studio audience,” but for the viewers watching at home. “That’s who we’re serving. If it was a play, laugh all you want. I’ll think of things to keep my character busy and hopefully keep going,” she said.

The live audience was not only problematic because of their overreaction, but also the opposite. And when the actors were forced to re-record a take multiple times, audience laughter dropped off significantly, leading the writers to question the quality of the show’s jokes.

In addition to the awkward moments from the show, Kudrow also decided to remember those that hold a very special place in her memory, like when she filmed the scene where they dance in a fountain with the rest of the cast.

The actress assured that she and her companions were tired and very cold at that moment, but that Matthew Perry’s jokes kept them in a good mood.

Even though Kudrow had already mentioned that she didn’t want to see Friends Fearing that he would not like his own work and appearance, Perry’s departure changed his opinion.
