History: Joaquín Niemann and Mito Pereira will be part of the international team for the Presidents Cup

The Chileans are the only Latinos in the squad that brings together the best non-European or non-American players on the planet. They will be joined by major champions and the former world number one.

Following the conclusion of the BMW Championship, the international Presidents Cup team has confirmed the top eight players who will be part of the team’s traditional event. A list where Joaquín Niemann and Mito Pereira are. Chileans are the only Latinos.

A confirmation that is obtained exclusively by sports results. Both managed to collect an excellent year on the PGA and were among the eight players (who meet the requirements) with the best points of the season. While Talagante’s is fourth on the list, Pirque’s comes in just in time, in eighth place.

Thus, the international team is composed, in addition to the Chileans, of the Australians Cameron Smith (winner of the Open Championship this year) and adam scott (former world number one), South Koreans Sungjae Im (11th in the race for the FedEx Cup) and Joo Hyung Kim (19th worldwide), the Japanese Hideki Matsuyama (winner of the 2021 Masters) and Canadian Corey Conners (Winner of the Valero Texas Open 2019).

This is the second time Niemann has taken part in the tournament. while for Mito it will be his debut in the competition which will face the rest of the world against the United States at the end of September.

But it wasn’t just on the international side that news broke that day, as the 50-state team announced six of its golfers, highlighting the presence of current world number one Scottie Scheffler.

The winner of Augusta 2022 will be accompanied Sam Burns (4th in the FedEx Cup race), patrick canlay (today he won the BMW championship), Tony Finau (two wins this season), Xander Schauele (gold at Tokyo 2021) and Justin Thomas (Winner of the PGA Championship).
