BMW Championship: Niemann is in the top ten and Mito Pereira completes a great season at the PGA

The Chileans played the last round of the second round of the playoffs and gave great sensations. While the native of Talagante entered the top ten of the tournament and will reach the TOUR Championship on fire, that of Pirque finished in 54th position and concluded his first full year on the most important circuit in the world.

The last round of the BMW Championship brought emotions to the two national golfers. While Joaquín Niemann fought for the title until the last hole and finished in the top ten, Mito Pereira concluded his first full season on the PGA after finishing in 54th position in the second round of the playoffs.

A Sunday that leaves lessons and assessments, both for Niemann, who is still in competition and will have to travel to Atlanta to contest the TOUR Championship, and for Pirque, who failed to enter the group of 30 players competing in the last tournament of the year and he ended his great rookie season on the PGA in Delaware.

In the case of the native of Talagante, heThe sensations are mounted in these playoffs , because in the BMW championship he managed to improve on what was done in St. Jude, where he finished T13. This thanks to a week in which he managed to show his best level and to be one of the great candidates for the trophy.

In fact, he came into this round in the top ten of the tournament and just four strokes behind Patrick Cantlay, who finished as champion today. On Sunday, he made three birdies and two bogeys , remaining with nine cumulative strokes under par. A balance sheet that leaves him eighth in the event. He is his fifth top ten of the season.

Now Niemann has to think about the TOUR Championship, the last tournament of the year and where only the 30 best golfers of the season say they are present . An emblematic event of the circuit and to which that of the metropolitan area manages to qualify for the third consecutive time, which suggests that he is one of the stars of world golf.

Among the best rookies of the year

Mito Pereira has come into the PGA with a bang. For his first full year on the North American circuit, the Chilean gave experienced performances and became a weekend regular (made 17 out of 26 cuts ) of the most important events of the tour. This allowed him to be among the candidates for “Rookie of the Year” and make the playoffs, managing to make it to two of three post-season events.

He started the home stretch of the season with a T42 at St. Jude which saw him reach the BMW Championship needing a big result to qualify for the TOUR Championship. Something that ultimately did not happen. The Chilean had a complicated first lap in Delaware and it was not until the last lap that he came out of the bottom .

On Sunday, he managed to finish all 18 holes with a two-under par and moved up ten positions, staying with a cumulative +2 and installed on the T54 . A classification which does not allow him to continue the competition, but which shows in any case the formidable year which he signed. Being among the 70 best players of the season is not an achievement for everyone.

It is one of the two most important postcards of the current course for Pirque. The other is definitely the third place he had in the PGA Championship second major of the season and one of the four most important tournaments in world golf.
