Full details of Joaco’s debut on the Saudi millionaire circuit.
Joaquín Niemann had the most turbulent days of his career. This Monday, his manager confirmed the Chilean’s participation in the very young LIV Golf, and the next day it was the Saudi Super League itself which was responsible for announcing his brand new incorporation on all its social networks.
But Joaco will not be the only novelty in the competition to shake the foundations of golf. During these days they also announced the presence of other personalities such as Cameron Smith, Harold Varner III, Marc Leishman, Cameron Tringale and Anirban Lahiri.
To these names mentioned, are added those of Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka, Phil Mickelson, Bryson DeChambeau, Louis Oosthuizen, Kevin Na, Sergio Garcia, among others, who had already signed with the millionaires circuit.
His father defended the decision
Jorge Niemann, father of the golfer, defended his son’s determination in the face of all the questions he received about leaving the PGA Tour: “Today they see that the decision he made was not the best, that he left for money and other epithets that come out of the woodwork, yet I believe that time will finally give him reason; in 5 years a lot of things will happen” posted on Facebook.
How is the game format?
Contrary to what has been seen during these years on the PGA Tour, LIV Golf presents some modifications in the format. There is an individual competition and another for teams, those with a captain. The tournament lasts three days (54 holes) and is played without cuts.
He will make his debut in Boston
Boston will be the next stop for LIV Golf. The event will take place from September 2 to 4 and it will be Joaquín Niemann’s debut in the competition.
