Gómez and Calderón win diving bronze at Santo Domingo 2026

Frandiel Gómez and José Calderón claimed bronze in the men’s 3-metre synchronised springboard at the Santo Domingo 2026 Games, finishing with a score of 345.57 at the Centro Acuático Juan Pablo Duarte.

Mexico’s Juan Celaya and Osmar Olvera won gold, while Colombia’s Luis Uribe and Sebastián Morales took silver.

For the two Dominican athletes, the medal carried extra meaning. Calderón said his family was watching him compete for the first time and that winning a regional medal on home soil had been a dream. Gómez described it as the pair’s second historic medal, the first having come at the 2018 Barranquilla Games.

The Gourmet Duo

Beyond diving, Gómez and Calderón share another distinction: both hold degrees in gastronomy. Calderón said he developed his interest in cooking after sampling meals prepared by Gómez during their travels together, even though he had been cooking himself since the age of nine.
