Kamil Grabara is leaving VfL Wolfsburg for Juventus on a loan deal with an option to buy worth 12 million euros, Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has confirmed.
Di Marzio said the Poland goalkeeper would travel to Italy on Tuesday for a medical before the move is finalised as a loan with a buy option set at 12 million euros.
Grabara has spent the past two years at Wolfsburg and has been capped six times by Poland. Experts rated his performances highly, but Wolfsburg suffered the first relegation from the Bundesliga in the club's history in the 2025/26 season. Playing in Germany's second division held little appeal for the goalkeeper, and he became a candidate to leave.
Rejected offers from Belgium and France
Other clubs had tried to sign Grabara, including Club Brugge and Olympique de Marseille. Wolfsburg turned down Club Brugge's offer, while Grabara himself rejected the approach from Marseille, reportedly holding out for a more attractive destination.
Deal came together within days
Juventus's interest first surfaced on August 22, and the transfer was largely settled just two days later. The 12 million euro buy-option fee is 1.5 million euros less than the amount Wolfsburg paid FC Copenhagen for Grabara two years ago.
The move gives Grabara a shot at a leading European club, though he will have to fight for playing time.
Competition for the number one shirt
At Juventus, Grabara will compete for the starting goalkeeper spot with Guglielmo Vicario, who was signed from Tottenham Hotspur. Fellow Poland international Arkadiusz Milik also plays for Juventus; the forward was an unused substitute throughout the club's opening Serie A match of the season against Frosinone.
Wolfsburg turn to a young replacement
Wolfsburg have already lined up Grabara's successor in 18-year-old Jakub Zieliński, another Polish goalkeeper. Zieliński has kept clean sheets in his first two league appearances for the club. In the first round of the German Cup, he made up for a serious error in the 71st minute by saving two penalties in the resulting shootout.
