Men’s national team of Ukraine for the first time reached the final of the European Karate Championship

In the final match of the team kumite, the blue-yellows will meet with France

Men’s national team of Ukraine in karate first appeared in “golden” final competitions in kumite on European Championship 2023 in Spanish Guadalajara.

In the 1/8 finals, Ukrainian karatekas defeated Portugal (3:0), in the 1/4 finals – Montenegro (3:0). In the semi-finals, the blue-yellows beat the representatives of Croatia – 12:6.

In the final on March 26, Ukraine will meet with France. Previously, the men’s national team won bronze at the European Championships four times (2017, 2018, 2021 and 2022).

The national team of Ukraine in team kumite is represented by Stanislav Goruna, Andriy Toroshenko, Valeriy Chebotar, Rizvan Talibov and Andriy Zaplitny.

Earlier, Anzhelika Terlyuga (up to 55 kg), Anita Seregina (up to 61 kg) and Andrey Zaplitny (up to 75 kg) reached the final of the European Championship 2023 in singles. Another Ukrainian Rizvan Talibov (over 84 kg) will compete for bronze.
