The Ukrainian swimmer won the first medal in the history of the country at the World Championships in open water.
Two -time winner of the 2020 Olympic Games – Mikhail Romanchuk, has entered the history of Ukrainian swimming. For the first time in his career, the athlete competed in the World Championships in open water and immediately won a medal. Note that before that, not a single Ukrainian won an award for swimming out of the pool.
This happened at the 2022 World Aquatics Championships taking place in Hungary’s capital, Budapest. Romanchuk jumped in the 5km open water race and finished third.
