Three-time European diving champion, coach of the Russian national team Svetlana Timoshinina, became a victim of scammers, the press service of the Russian Diving Federation told .
As the federation reported, the 50-year-old coach lost more than a million rubles. Timoshinina received a message from an account designed as the official account of the president of the Russian Diving Federation Stanislav Druzhinin. He said that the curator of the federation would contact her soon on an important issue. Timoshinina was informed that a criminal case could be opened against her, as an attempt was made to transfer money from the account. Following the scammers’ instructions, she put the money in the courier’s backpack.
“The president of the Russian Diving Federation has submitted a corresponding request to law enforcement agencies,” the press service of the federation told .
Timoshinina is a three-time European champion, a two-time world championship medalist and a participant in three Olympic Games. The athlete finished her career in 2004, after which she became a coach.
