A film in the mockumentary genre, combining fiction and real documentary footage filmed by soldiers of the 3rd Brigade during the performance of real combat missions
Director Lyubomir Levitsky is preparing for release the film “Mi buli recruits” about the soldiers of the 3rd separate assault brigade. No budget funds were allocated for the film – the Ukrainian company FAVBET took over the financing of the filming.
“FAVBET systematically supports the Armed Forces of Ukraine, supplies the army with transport, drones, and high-tech equipment. This is our responsibility. And it is also our duty as Ukrainians to remember those who risk their lives every day for the sake of our freedom. Lubomir Levitsky’s film is about these people. Those who defended Kyiv were liberated by Kherson, and now they are beating the enemy in the east. Their names and stories deserve to be known throughout Ukraine.”– comments FAVBET Business Development Director Sergey Dzekunov.

“We are recruits” is a film in the mockumentary genre, combining fiction and real documentary footage filmed by military personnel of the 3rd Brigade during the performance of real combat missions. The plot centers on a 19-year-old pseudo with the call sign “Journalist”, who decides to join the ranks of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in order to “break into the decisive battle.” So he becomes one of the brigade’s recruits and at the same time an interviewer, who, through conversations with his brothers during a combat outing, reveals to the audience the personal stories of each of them.
During a conversation with the Journalist, the brigade fighters appear not just as abstract heroes in the defense of Ukraine, but as ordinary people with their own philosophy, views, dreams and characters. Thanks to “Mi Buli Recruits”, viewers will be able to look behind the scenes of the life of the unit and share with its fighters the moment of persistent struggle, grueling training, brotherhood and humor.
For Lyubomir Levitsky, a Ukrainian filmmaker with a unique vision, the new film will be the second documentary film since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. The debut was the short film “Follow Me.” “Mi Buli Recruits” promises to be a much larger, but still sincere and fascinating story.
“Today was just supposed to be another film. It is important to tell a story that hurts every Ukrainian and carries a specific mission. That is why I chose the genre of pseudo-documentary with real facts, complemented by spectacular staged scenes and a game part. This is a new genre for Ukraine, which viewers will definitely remember. Just as the history of our heroes will be remembered.”says Lyubomir Levitsky.
