“The competition at the Spartakiad is very tough. “Everyone is ready” – skier Semikov

Skier Ilya Semikov after taking second place in the Spartakiad of the Strongest skiathlon, he spoke about the very tough fight during the race in Tyumen.

On Saturday, Semikov became second in the skiathlon at the Spartakiad of the Strongest in Tyumen, losing to Alexander Bolshunov 1.5 seconds. Took third place Artem Maltsev (+3.9).

— Were you lucky enough to overtake Bolshunov in the skiathlon?

– Probably not. It was possible to maintain his jerk, but the way he navigated the descents is an art in its own right. It is very difficult to fight him on the downhill sections. He kicks very hard. I can’t even say that his ski slides better. It’s all about passing technique. So it is difficult to fight him.

— Is second place the maximum?

— The maximum is first place. I consider second place to be an excellent result in such a race. There are a lot of tactical changes and noise. I was driving and thinking, “How can I end up in such a group?” I’m happy I was able to finish second.

— Ustyugov said on his social networks that the competition at Spartakiad would be tough. Did you feel it?

– Yes, very hard. It’s clear that everyone is in the mood.

— Ustyugov said the guys hit each other hard on the slope with sticks, pushed each other and skied.

– I think it’s not out of malice. It’s just that the specificity of the circle is such that there are straight descents and sharp counter-slopes and turns. Therefore, it happens that people hit you from behind and there is nowhere to go. This is the design of the route, ”reports a correspondent of , according to Semikov’s words.

The Spartakiade ski tournament takes place from February 9 to 18.

On Monday there will be a 10 km time trial. Watch the live broadcast of the women’s time trial from 8:35 Moscow time, the men’s from 10:50 Moscow time on , Match! Arena” and “Match! Planet”, as well as on the sites matchtv.ru and sportbox.ru.
