The Mexican is ready to fight the Ukrainian world champion
Undefeated Mexican boxer William Cepeda (30-0, 26 KO) said that he would like to meet the IBF lightweight champion in the ring Vasily Lomachenko.
“I have always said that Lomachenko is one of the boxers who is a pleasure to watch, for those of us who love boxing, what boxing is, it is a pleasure to watch his fights – because of what he does, because of the movements , the way he moves around the ring.”
“When I started boxing as a kid, I saw boxers of his caliber stand out in amateur boxing. Now, at this level, I would be honored, proud to share the ring with him. With a fighter like him, we have always worked to fight the best. But Lomachenko certainly deserves respect.”
Cepeda defeated Briton Maxi Hughes in his last fight. The Mexican boxer became the mandatory challenger for the WBA and IBF lightweight belts.
On May 12, Lomachenko won the vacant IBF lightweight belt by defeating Australian George Kambosos by TKO in the 11th round. Vasily stated that he plans to take a short rest before returning to the ring.
