Pomazan brings Ukraine 14th gold at 2024 Paralympic Games, becoming champion in shot put

This is the third Paralympic gold medal in the Ukrainian’s career.

Ukrainian Maria Pomazan won gold Paralympic Games 2024 V shot put (class F35).

Pomazan’s result was 12.75 meters. She surpassed the result of Chinese Wang Zhang, who won the silver medal, by 81 cm. Bronze went to British Anna Nicholson (9.44 m).

For Maria Pomazan, this is already the third Paralympic gold in her career. Previously, she became champion in London 2012 and Tokyo 2020, and in Rio 2016, the Ukrainian won silver.

Ukraine already has 53 medals at the 2024 Paralympic Games (14 gold, 18 silver and 21 bronze).

The 2024 Paralympics are taking place in Paris from August 28 to September 8. The Ukrainian team is represented at the Games by 140 athletes. Ukrainians will compete in 17 of the 22 Paralympic sports – this is a record in the history of our country.
