Figure skater Mark Kondratyuk said that at the first stage of the Grand Prix of Figure Skating of Russia he did not show the most difficult free program in his arsenal.
On Sunday, Kondratyuk won the Russian Grand Prix in Magnitogorsk, scoring 289.74 points in the total of two programs. The second was Roman Savosin (275.55), the third was Evgeniy Semenenko (274.97). Kondratyuk performed five quadruple jumps in his free program and also performed a cascade of two triple axels for the first time in a full performance.
— It turned out pretty good in terms of items. There were a few flaws in the stunt, but overall it was decent and confident. I’m going to work on the tracks and the rotation, I don’t have enough physical strength.
Is it easier to manage complex content?
— Each departure is a life apart. During the skating tests, I knew I could physically do it, but it was mentally difficult to convey it to the public. Now it’s a little easier.
— After the program, you and your coach raised your hands. Did you understand that this was a victory?
“I raised my hands because I skated well, not because I understood there would be a victory. This wasn’t my most difficult free program. The middle option of the three, I decided to ride here along the way. So it wasn’t the easiest or most difficult option. When I saw the points, I realized that this could be enough to win, ”reports the correspondent of , reporting Kondratyuk’s words.
Kondratyuk is an Olympic bronze medalist in the team competitions and a European champion.
