The inclusive rugby team will host the opening match of the event contested by the senior teams of the emblematic clubs of Santiago and Viña del Mar.
This Saturday, October 15 will take place the fifth edition of the 4 Nations Tournament at the Stade Français. Event that traditionally brings together four senior teams from the capital, but this 2022 will have a rookie team in the competition. This is Tarucas Rugby, which represented Chile at the Mixed Ability World Cup and that they will play the opening match of the championship.
A team that since its creation in 2019 seeks to include everyone in rugby. The organization is made up of more than 45 people, divided into two groups. On the one hand, there are the players (who have a certain cognitive deficit, mainly Down syndrome) and on the other, the facilitators, who are mostly active rugby players.
And in this year 2022, they had their big moment: being present at the Mixed Ability World Cup held in Cork, Republic of Ireland. For the occasion it was a delegation of 33 players, including 10 rugby players who were part of the XV South America team which included players from Chile, Argentina and Ecuador. The others traveled to play a series of friendly duels representing Tarucas.
These achievements, together with the excellent work done by the team over the past three years, have motivated the organization of the event to invite Tarucas to this new edition, which will play the opening match against a team made up of representatives of the four teams. who traditionally play the tournament: Old Friends (COBS), Old Golds (PWCC), Gauls (Stade Français) and Ravens (Sporting de Viña del Mar) .
