The tournament has been postponed for two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic and now they face tug-of-war with a travel agency for the cost of tickets.
Ang Pumps XVthe Argentina national team including rugbyaccused of scam by a travel agency and some players will not be able to travel to Ireland to defend the world title.
Ang Pumps XVchampions in Spain 2017, is preparing since 2019 for an appointment postponed by Covid-19 in 2020 and held now from June 5 to 10.
Their problem with the company “Championship Tours” was that 11 people gave advance tickets between 150 and 1,300 dollars, but two weeks after the trip three of them couldn’t finish paying them because of the price difference. The rest, meanwhile, bought the full ticket for $ 1,750.
What happened in between? When the travel agency re -mentioned the tickets, the national team noticed a huge economic difference (100,000 pesos for each ticket) and asked for the money to be returned (over 40,000 dollars) to buy them elsewhere.
The tug of war led them to a failed mediation that forced them to initiate criminal, civil and commercial legal action to resolve the money issue. Meanwhile, to resolve the issue in the short term, the Pumps XV organized a donation through their social networks (@pumpasxv).
“We did not call the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, I think it will intervene after the complaint. Hopefully we can solve that and enjoy the World Cup. The idea came back with a smile like the past, with or without the Cup but fun to participate“explained the coach. Daniel Fernandez in dialogue with TN.
The championship is organized by IMAS (International Mixed Ability Sports), a non-profit entity that develops and defends the mixed ability model, to allow people with and without disabilities to equally participate in clubs and communities that bring together the sport and education “.
MARAS XV (Mixed Ability Rugby Argentino) will also compete, consisting of players from Santiago del Estero, Mendoza, Santa Fe, San Juan, Neuquén, Tucumán and Buenos Aires, and South America XV along with players from Argentina, Ecuador and Chile.
24 men’s and four women’s teams will participate in the tournament, providing a total of over 1,000 athletes and more than 12 participating countries.
