The All Blacks achieved a landslide victory and clinched the Rugby Championship

They beat Australia at home 40-14 and, unless South Africa beat Los Pumas by more than 40 points, they will be champions again.

The All blackthe New Zealand national team, crushed today Australia by 40 to 14 (PT 17 to 0) and one step away from winning for the eighth time Rugby Championshipas it forces Argentina to beat South Africa this afternoon by 40 more points, in the match that will close the tournament.

The match was played at the Eden Park Stadium, in Auckland, New Zealand, and in this way the All Blacks finished with 19 points and a score balance of +67, against South Africa’s 14 with +28, closing in on Australia who with 10 and The Pumas with nine.

The home side’s goals came in tries from Will Jordan, Sam Whitelock, Codie Taylor, Samisoni Taukei’aho and a penalty try, with three penalties and two conversions from Richie Mo’unga. For Australia the tries were two and were scored by Folau Fainga’a and Jordan Petaia, converted by Bernard Foley and Reeece Hodge.

New Zealand formed with Beauden Barrett; Will Jordan, Rieko Ioane, Jordie Barrett and Caleb Clarke; Richie Mo’unga and Aaron Smith; Ardie Savea, Dalton Papali’i and Akira Ioane; Samuel Whitelock and Brodie Retallick; Tyrel Lomax, Codie Taylor and Ethan deGroot.

For its part, Australia did it with Andrew Kellaway; Tom Wright, Len Ikitau, Lalakai Foketi, and Marika Koroibete; Bernard Foley and Jake Gordon; Harry Wilson, Pete Samu and Rob Valenti; Caderyn Neville and Jed Holloway; Allan Alaalatoa, David Porecki and James Slipper.

How the Rugby Championship champion is defined

If South Africa beat Argentina with an offensive bonus point (a difference of three tries or more to Los Pumas) they will move ahead of the All Blacks with 19 points, and if they win without the bonus they will be 18 behind.

In the tiebreaker is considered:

  • 1) More number of victories, both will add four.
  • 2) Results between equal teams, each winning a match.
  • 3) Greater balance of points, which will be considered in this sense with a clear advantage for New Zealanders.

The Rugby Championship has been played since 2012 and in nine editions New Zealand has achieved seven, Australia and South Africa one, numbers that mark, beyond some decline in performance, the enormous supremacy of the All Blacks.
