Davis Cup finalist Andrei Chesnokov says Dutch tennis player Botik van de Zandschulp crushed the Spaniard like an ice rink Carlos Alcaraz during the second round match of the US Open.
Alcaraz lost to van de Zandschulp with a score of 1:6, 5:7, 4:6.
— Alcaraz fell under Van de Zandschulp’s ice rink. Alcaraz was like a tomato and Van de Zandschulp was an ice rink that simply crushed him.
After the first set, I still thought that Alcaraz, with his character and his iron mentality, would turn the tide of the match. But Botik moved very well. The Dutchman gave an excellent density of shots, he scored well every practical forehand. Van de Zandschulp saw the court well and took advantage of the space opened by Alcaraz. I would also like to highlight Botik’s excellent rally game – incredible level!
“Alcaraz did not expect such a game from his opponent and, as a result, he himself made many unforced errors,” Chesnokov told RB Sport.
Van de Zandschulp’s next opponent will be Britain’s Jack Draper.
