Goalkeeper Vozinha was officially presented by Chilean club Colo-Colo on Tuesday after signing a contract through the end of the season. The 40-year-old player, considered one of the main sensations of world football, holds an option to extend his stay for an additional year.
During his presentation, Vozinha explained that negotiations became drawn out because he had to resolve personal problems that delayed his arrival in Chile. He had also opened negotiations with a Moroccan club before choosing Colo-Colo. Vozinha thanked the club president for his patience and said he had always dreamed of playing for a big team.
Shirt nickname approval
Vozinha also celebrated the approval allowing him to display his nickname on the back of his jersey. A Chilean football regulation previously prohibited nicknames on shirts, but league presidents voted to reverse the rule. Vozinha thanked the presidents who voted in favor, explaining that the name comes from his childhood and means a lot to him.
Developed by Cape Verdean club Batuque in 2008, Vozinha brings extensive international experience to Chile after playing for clubs in Angola, Moldova, Portugal, Cyprus, and Slovakia. Before joining Colo-Colo, he played for Portuguese side Chaves and became a free agent when his contract ended in June.
At the international level, the goalkeeper has made 90 appearances for the Cape Verde national team. His international career includes key performances during the 2026 World Cup.
