Double Olympic champion Dmitry Vasiliev in a conversation with a correspondent, he said the FIS position on the possible return of Russian skiers to international starts in a neutral status is two-sided.
Previously President of the Russian Ski Racing Federation (FLGR) Elena Vyalbe said that before the partial mobilization and the referendums on new territories, the FIS was considering the possibility of granting a neutral status to Russian athletes, but that is now out of the question.
Naturally, this was expected to be the case. Not only the FIS was talking about the possible admission of Russians, but other federations were talking about the fact that athletes from our country could compete in a neutral status. But it is quite logical that since the athletes are subject to mobilization, it is hardly possible for this period for Russian athletes to perform on the international stage until everything is over.
Of course, not giving athletes the opportunity to compete even in neutral status is a mistake. We remember how NATO bombed Yugoslavia, for some reason no one cared. Then, all these countries took part in international competitions, in the Olympic Games. On this occasion, no one lamented, did not worry much. Nobody even talks about double standards anymore, they’ve been used to it for a long time. It is cynicism of the highest level, lies, duplicity of Western colleagues. There is not even anything to discuss here, and everything is clear,” Vasiliev told .
