Double Olympic champion in biathlon Dmitry Vasiliev expressed the view in conversation with a correspondent that exceptions should not be made for athletes if they received a summons to the military registration and enlistment office.
Previously, commentator Dmitry Guberniev reported that he had information that several biathletes were drafted into the ranks of the Russian Armed Forces.
– The law is the same for everyone, it does not specify that athletes are not subject to mobilization. Of course, the situation has changed, so currently athletes should be subject to conscription, like other people, if it concerns their category, Vasilyev said.
Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a partial mobilization on September 21.
