Head of the Russian Biathlon Union (RBU) Viktor Maygurov Within the framework of the Russia-Sports Power forum in Kemerovo, he noted that the application to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) for the decision to withdraw Russian athletes from participation in international competitions is still under consideration.
The International Biathlon Union (IBU) announced in late February that it would only allow Russians and Belarusians to compete in neutral status. After that, the RBU announced that Russian athletes would not participate in the remaining stages of the World Cup until the end of the season. Subsequently, the IBU decided on the complete suspension of Russian and Belarusian biathletes.
– The IBU is still ahead of the curve in terms of fines and suspensions. We have filed a complaint with the CAS for a suspension decision. But it is still under study. We do not have a single request for a change of sport citizenship. In addition, one of the athletes, who once competed for Ukraine, now regains Russian citizenship and will compete for our country.
As for the companies supplying the stocks, none refused to cooperate. The only problem is getting quality ammo. We bought them in Germany. Now we are trying to solve this problem with the help of Russian manufacturers,” Maygurov said.
