“In Udmurtia, they understand that they don’t have normal conditions, but they don’t want to let the athletes go” – biathlete Emerkhonov

Biathlete Yevgeny Emerkhonov told that Udmurt coaches understand that there are no normal conditions for the development of athletes in the region, but at the same time they do not give the opportunity to change the national team.

Yemerkhonov competed under the RBU flag in the last Russian Championship in Tchaikovsky. The biathlete cannot complete the transition from the Udmurt national team to the Tatarstan team due to compensatory payments. According to Yemerkhonov, the Udmurt side is demanding one million rubles.

— I spoke with Sergey Vikentievich Perevoshchikov, deputy director of the sports school, and with Rostislav Valeryevich Musalimov, director of the sports school. As they told me, I didn’t deserve to be released like this. That is, you need to earn medals from international departures, and only then can you go to another region. I replied that now they couldn’t even give me a good trunk. In my junior season, I had a BI-7-4, which kind of held the cartridge, but every time I folded, I took three, four or even five misses. I didn’t understand what was going on, inside me or in the trunk. We asked for another barrel, Nastya Kaisheva just got a free one, but we were refused. Suddenly, I continued to run in the season with my weapons. The trunks are not new at all: 2006-2007 release. The transition to another region is mainly related to the conditions. In Tatarstan, I was immediately offered a new good barrel Anschutz 2019. This option worked for me.

The employment contract contains clauses according to which the sports organization must provide all the necessary conditions and equipment. But for the entire period of playing in the Udmurt national team, I was given only one suit (“warm-up” and overalls), a pair of sticks and a pair of boots. I only asked for a rifle butt when I was a junior. Before that, they always told me: “There is no money. Yes, they also gave away a pair of Fischer skis – not the top model and, so to speak, not very good. I sold them, added my money and bought some good ones already. It was probably in the 2016/17 season. I want to make it clear that I’m not complaining. I’m sincerely grateful for everything they’ve done for me, but I don’t like the fact that they don’t respect me.

Everyone understands and knows that the conditions in the area are very, very bad, but they still don’t want to let go. I immediately told everyone that I wanted to keep a good relationship, that I just wanted to compete and have fun. I want to emphasize once again that I do not want to swear with anyone! I’m grateful to the Republic of Udmurtia for their contribution, for education, but now it’s a sport for adults and I don’t want to be a punching bag, but now, unfortunately, that’s exactly what’s happening pass,” Yemerkhonov said.
