MP Butina believes that Russian skiers will be offered to return to international competitions

Deputy Maria Butina on the air of the program “There is a theme!” on the channel, she expressed confidence that Russian skiers would be offered to return to international competitions for financial reasons.

– I want to say: “O times, on morals.” We have all been cheated by Europe and the West at some point. People’s fascination with the West has always been, not 10-20 years, but much further. We will have to fight this myth for a long time and together.

As for skiers, I look at everything from the angle of information processes. From now on, information is put on the agenda: what if suddenly? I think our athletes will be offered to come back under a neutral status. This offer will be made to us. There is a serious reason, not politics – money.

Here it is important not to follow the path of template solutions, but everything separately. See what conditions will return for our athletes, then make a decision. With them we have to solve this problem, find a dialogue with them,” Butina said.

Earlier, reports appeared in the media that the Norwegian national team was ready to boycott international competitions if the Russians were admitted.

At the end of February, the executive committee of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) recommended that federations ban Russian and Belarusian athletes from participating in competitions because of the situation in Ukraine. The International Ski Federation (FIS) has followed these recommendations. Athletes from both countries have been suspended until the end of the summer season, a decision on the winter season has yet to be made.
