Conference of the Biathlon Federation of Ukraine is scheduled for November 14
Ukrainian biathlete Dmitry Pidruchny confirmed that he intends participate in the presidential elections of the Biathlon Federation of Ukraine.
“I want to express my position on the events taking place in the Biathlon Federation. More precisely, about the Conference scheduled for November 14th. But first, a little background. It all started in April of this year, when the current statutory body of the Federation, the Presidium, decided not to hold the next Conference in May. At this Conference, the re-election of the President of the FBU was supposed to take place, and the Presidium postponed it until the end of martial law.
“Several reasons were found: martial law and the cessation of the work of state registries. Members of the FBU, athletes, coaches, and the biathlon family put up with this decision. A week before the start of the 2022/23 winter season, in the midst of the preparatory process for athletes and the overload of coaches who can be delegated from the cells, the Conference is convened. I am not going to comment on what made the Presidium reconsider its decision after 5 months.”
“As in April of this year, I intend to take part in the elections for the post of President of the FBU. This intention has grown stronger over the past 6 months, just as my team has grown stronger, which includes qualified people who are not indifferent to biathlon. I also got stronger, because I gained an understanding of the directions of development and the need to restart the Ukrainian biathlon.”
President of the Biathlon Federation of Ukraine Volodymyr Brynzak wrote a letter of resignation and left his post. According to him, since July 1, he has been acting president of the FBU.
The meeting of the Presidium of the Biathlon Federation of Ukraine was supposed to be held on May 18, but was postponed until the end of martial law in the country.
Ukrainian biathlete Dmitry Pidruchny is going to run for the post of FBU President. The athlete expressed indignation at the postponement of elections for the post of President of the Federation.
Recall that Brynzak refused to run for a new term. The functionary has been leading the Ukrainian biathlon since 1998.
