President of the Russian Olympic Committee Stanislav Pozdnyakov in the Telegram channel congratulated Viktor Maygurov with re-election as the head of the Russian Biathlon Union (RBU).
On October 14, in the building of the Russian Olympic Committee in Moscow, the report and election conference of the RBU was held, the vote for the candidates for the presidency was secret. Aleksey Nuzhdov, president of the Moscow Region Biathlon Federation, also claimed the position of head of the organization. All 54 delegates who took part in the meeting voted: Maygurov received 31 votes, Nuzhdov – 23.
– Congratulations to Viktor Maygurov on his re-election as head of the Russian Biathlon Union. I am sure that ROC and RBU will successfully continue their joint work on the development of biathlon in Russia, on support for athletes of the country’s national teams, on the preparation of the Olympic reserve and on scientific and methodological support for our athletes on the base of the branches of the ROC Innovation Center,” he wrote.
Maygurov is 53 years old. He is a two-time Olympic medalist, three-time world champion and led the RRF in the summer of 2020.
